Sendy vs Mailchimp – Comparison 2022

Email Marketing software solutions have rapidly become one of the essential tools in the market. Sendy isn’t the only Email Marketing software available, and it’s not necessarily the perfect choice for your requirements. That’s why, today we’ve compared Sendy with MailChimp, weighing one software against the other.

If you are reading this comparison, then you are probably interested in choosing MailChimp or Sendy. Sendy’s most significant advantage is that this software is much cheaper than MailChimp. If you’re sending emails in volume then, Sendy must be your first choice because it's a cost-saving Email Marketing software.

MailChimp vs Sendy: What are the differences?

What is MailChimp?

MailChimp is an Email Marketing software that helps you design email newsletter, share them in social networks, track your results and integrate with services you already use.

Features:

Some of the key features offered by MailChimp are:

  • AutoConnect Templates
  • Full-Featured API
  • Facebook Integration
  • Excellent Interface – the standard for email marketing

What is Sendy?

Sendy is a kind of self-hosted email newsletter app that lets you send trackable emails via Amazon Simple Email Services (SES). With the help of Sendy, you can send authenticated bulk emails at an insanely low price without sacrificing deliverability.

Features:

Some of the key features offered by Sendy are:

  • List and Subscribers
  • Beautiful Reports
  • Multiple Brands
  • Easy to use with WYSIWYG

Price Comparison

New accounts that have a small number of subscribers and emails sent per month, MailChimp is free for them. This doesn't include all of the fancy features which are reserved for paid accounts, like an autoresponder and many more.

For very small companies which aren’t planning to do much email marketing, using the free option may make sense.

However, as your number of emails sent per month & list of subscribers increases, the cost becomes much higher. Here are the monthly prices for MailChimp once you move beyond the 12,000 free email allowance:

Subscribers Cost

501-1,000 >> $15

2,001-2,500 >> $30

2,501-5,000 >> $50

5,001-10,000 >> $75

10,000-25,000 >> $150

25,000-50,000 >> $240

Sendy, on the other hand, sends emails with the help of Amazon's SES service. It's a top-quality service from Amazon that gives you access to the same email sending infrastructure that Amazon uses. This means that due to economies of scale, Amazon is able to provide this service at a tiny fraction of the price.

You can send 10,000 emails for $1.

It means that, if you had a list of 10,000 subscribers, & you sent four emails to each of them in a month, it would cost you 4$ with Sendy through Amazon SES. And with MailChimp, it would cost $150.

If you sent zero emails the next month, with Sendy, this would cost you $0 for emails. Whereas with MailChimp, it would cost $150 (the same price if you send nothing).

As Sendy is a self-hosted service, you'll need to pay for hosting services to keep it connected to the internet. It's not possible to set it up on your laptop, as the Amazon Web Services integration needs a domain name based URL to communicate with the Sendy installation.

Also, it wouldn't be useful to be installed on a machine that’s not connected to the internet or WiFi 24/7. Based on price and features, Sendy looks like a clear winner. There are some features that MailChimp has over Sendy, but these features aren’t so strong that they offset the huge month-to-month price difference for a small business.
